Eagle Rock Distributing Company was originally part of Atlanta Beverage Company, which was founded by Stuart Murray in 1930. The company operated from a small warehouse on Ashby Street in downtown Atlanta. In 1944 Anheuser-Busch, Inc. selected Mr. Murray as their wholesale distributor. The territory assignment from Anheuser-Busch included most of what is now commonly referred to as "Metro Atlanta", but included many "dry" cities and counties such as Dekalb and Gwinnett. As Atlanta grew and regulations changed, Atlanta Beverage grew right along with it. With growth came branch operations to better serve the marketplace. First a branch in Doraville in 1977, then another in Marietta in 1986. In 1990, the Doraville operation moved to a new, state of the art facility in Stone Mountain and the Murray family began to finalize their plans to spin off part of their company into a new, and separate entity. On May 1, 2000, Eagle Rock Distributing Company was born to serve the retail customers located in Dekalb, Gwinnett, North Fulton and Rockdale Counties. |
