Alert Cab is a service providing a free ride home for patrons of St. Louis City and County on-premise businesses to a residence in St. Louis City and County.

Since 1984, Grey Eagle, Lohr Distributing Company in St. Louis City, Laclede Cab Company and Anheuser-Busch have sponsored to program designed to make sure that customers who should not drive make it home safely. The four organizations pay all program costs so there is no charge to the on-premise business or to the person receiving the ride home.

Alert Cab provides one more option for on-premise retail customers in addition to serving alcoholic beverages responsibly, encouraging customers to eat during the evening and offering non-alcoholic beverages to Designated Drivers.

On-premise retailers receive Alert Cab information and a confidential phone number to call for Alert Cab service. The telephone number is only available to owners and managers and those employees they designate to make the decision to call Alert Cab for customers who want the free ride home. Alert Cab also provides a free ride back the next morning to retrieve a car.

  • Alert Cab will take a customer to a residence, not to another location where alcohol is available.
  • Only one person will receive the free transportation.
  • Any additional passengers in the Alert Cab will pay the regular fare.
  • The service is not available outside St. Louis City and County.
  • Alert Cab will not respond to any calls made by individuals if they become aware of the confidential Alert Cab telephone number.
