Make a Logo Banner
You May Need to Increase the Image Area

If your logo is not horizontal, but round or squarish like the
A&Eagle shown above, you may wish to make a horizontal Logo
Banner by adding your company name next to the logo. In this case,
you need to increase the image's "paper size" (the
image area) so you'll have an area for the text to go into.
Scroll to the bottom of this page or click here to see the finished
Logo Banner. |
| 1. Open a Copy of your logo in Photo Paint. |

|
2. Resize the paper/image area without Resizing the Image:
Select from the Menu: Image>Paper Size |
 |
The dialog box which open shows the size of the image in inches.
We recommend that you change "inches" to "pixels"
so that these directions are easier to follow.
For a discussion of pixels and images, please read "What
is a pixel?" from the "About Image Size" page. |
Roll the mouse over the image to see the image described in pixels.
|
| The required width is 400 pixels (about 5.55 inches) and the required
height is 100 pixels (about 1.38 inches). |

|
3. Move the logo to the left side of the banner:
Click the mouse on the logo, and holding down the left mouse button,
drag the logo into the desired position, then release the mouse
button.
Close the dialog box by clicking on OK.
You have now increased the "paper" size, also sometimes
referred to as the "canvas" size. |

|
Here is what your logo now looks like in the work area of Photopaint.
The image in this case is the area which is white, with the A&Eagle
placed on the left side of the image.
The light grey surrounding the white area is just part of the image
window and is not part of the image. |
 |
4. Type your company name
Choose the type tool .
Select the font and font size and justification (left, center or
right). Type your company name in the image area. |

|
5. Export as gif
From the File menu, choose Export. |

|
In the Export dialog box, make sure that the box "Files of
type:" reads GIF-CompuServe Bitmap.
Give your new image a new name and click "Save." |

|
Now you have a nice logo banner for your
website. You can upload it to your image directory and then add
it to your web site. See "Uploading
Images" and "Add a Logo
to Your Site" for more information.
