Resize Images in PhotoPaint
To shrink your photos down to web size in PhotoPaint, open your
photo in PhotoPaint, then click on "Image>Resample"
as shown to the right. |

PLEASE NOTE: PhotoPaint uses the word
"Resample" to indicate Resizing.
|
|
Here a picture of the Resample (Resize) dialog box.
The image being being referred to here is quite large, the size
that comes from a 1.2 Megapixel digital camera.
|
Mouse over the dialog box to see the same image described in pixels. |
|
For a large picture like this, we would suggest reducing the size
to about 25%. Notice that the old size is listed to the left of
the new size.
Be sure when you are reducing your pictures to have the option
boxes checked as in the picture.
|
Mouse over the dialog box to see the same image described in pixels. |
|
Crop Pictures
You can also reduce the size of your images by cropping, or cutting
away part of the picture.
Using the Rectangle Mask Tool (here circled in red) drag an outline
of the part of the picture you want to keep.
|
Mouse over the picture to see the effects of the crop. |
|
Once you have the area you want to keep selected, then click on
"Image>Crop>To Mask".

When you Might Need to Increase the Size of the Image
Tip: Do not increase the size of an image using Resample.
The program will do the best it can to add information, but
it is rarely satisfactory unless you are looking for an artistic
degraded, blurry effect.
You may, however, increase the area beside a picture,
or around a picture, then add new content to that area.
This is the process described in Make
a Logo Banner.
